World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades increase the value of certain numeric stats on armor, weapons and rings. They also boost extra bonuses like PvE damage and crit chance.

For instance a weapon that has the upgrade template that ends in % will take on 3damage to attack each time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).

Item upgrading costs crests and the item's current level. The cost increases as the level of the item rises.

Components

Upgrade components can be added to trinkets, weapons and armor in order to provide them with a boost in stats or add a bonus effect. These can be obtained through crafting, purchasing from vendors trading or looting. Certain upgrades come with special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into any equipment that has a slot for them; the item must have been at least upgraded to the blue level in order for the component to be inserted. Like other mods, upgrade components can only be used once and cannot be applied multiple times or replaced with upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a type of upgrade component that can be used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and ascended equipment, as well as some non-ascended items. Enrichments and Infusions can be obtained by salvaging equipment from the ascended state or by completing a mission within the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

A suffix or prefix can be added to an upgrade, changing the name of the item it's used on (for example 'Canthan Armor Insignia',' changes to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades can increase the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, which lets players create stronger versions with the smallest amount of upgrade crystals than they need to reach the same level using normal methods.

A boost upgrade can alter the defense or attack characteristics of a weapon or armor. These upgrades can be crafted from the Portative Forging Station once the player completes the cutscene and defeats the Crazed mechanic. These upgrades can be purchased by purchasing them from the cash shop or by collecting them from enemies when upgrading other gear.

The player is able to have the maximum of five boost upgrades at one time. Each upgrade increases the probability that a higher-tier version of the item will appear at the time of the next reset. This gives players an incentive to upgrade their gear, even when they're not sure how much it can be improved upon an update.

Whether a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process may be costly, and there is a substantial chance that the item could become obsolete or even break if it fails; a failed upgrade will cause the destruction of Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. This is reduced by the availability of cash shop items to increase or even eliminate the chances of failure, and some upgrades that offer a bonus when reinserted into an item.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade elements that can be inserted into special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs buff the power of all nodes within the area around them as well as existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded in many ways, and we recommend upgrading them to 15 levels whenever you can.

In the endgame you'll find that the best way to improve your gear is by placing Glyphs. They are the only upgrade component which can be upgraded to level 15 and give an enormous boost to your power on the Paragon Board.

The majority of upgrades in the game can be replaced but Glyphs are the only upgrade component that can be removed and re-placed without restrictions. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires the use of a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and then re-install.

Each Glyph has a specific range of values that it can improve a statistic by, and the value is displayed when you choose the Glyph in your inventory. You can decide to replace it with a different Glyph of the same rank or a higher rank, which will increase the overall value of the Glyph.

There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of an Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain tools for gathering unlimited use as well as through Faction Crypt raids. Each Faction Crypt will drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs that you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs then you need to place them on your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a special bonus that will boost a specific set of stat nodes in a radius surrounding the Glyph. This will either be +40 for one of your primary stats, or +25 for two of your secondary stats based on the Glyph.

The use of a Glyph will boost all nodes connected to it, so you should try to place your Glyphs close to key nodes on the Graph to maximize the impact. For instance, a Druid should try to position their Glyphs near their primary damage nodes, but you should also consider placing them near critical damage nodes too.

Leveling

The item upgrading system lets players increase the performance of specific items by putting upgraded components into them. This is often referred to as "upping". Each upgradeable item has a level that determines the final stats. Upgraded items can be leveled up to a maximum level of 385 ilvl. Each item level requires different components, and upgrade costs increase with each level.

Certain upgrades require a certain ingredient to activate. This ingredient can be obtained by making Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or on the upgrade tab of the crafting table. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed results in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used to leveling up an item. Once enough points are earned, you will be able to claim the upgrade and get its extra bonuses.

When the player upgrades an item level upgrade, the base item is replaced with a new item of the same kind. This means that the same armor piece will get a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item also has its own bonus. This can be a disadvantage because it can cause the item to become more expensive, even if you don't require it.

If the player has enough tokens, they can roll item upgrades. The item will be replaced with a brand new one that has a base of level 1 and totally different bonuses. This can be useful for some items, but it shouldn't be repeated often, as it could waste many resources.

Certain upgrades can be rerolled many times to increase their value, allowing the player to customize their equipment. A good example of this is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an advantage when a player repeatedly enters and leaves the water (or swims like dolphins). This can be upgraded several times, each time increasing the maximum roll by a factor of 10. This item can be extremely useful in PvP battles, since the Best item upgrader version of it could be worth between 20 and 50 times its non-upp'd value.

Requirements

Item upgrading allows players to increase the level of their equippable equipment - weapons, armor, and trinkets above ilvl 385--by providing the appropriate currency and items to an NPC that upgrades items. Upgrading armor set pieces will also boost the defense base of the piece, whereas upgrading weapon items will increase the base damage and required strength and dexterity to meet the upgraded equipment's requirements.

All items can be upgraded up to five times except for hero equipment, which can be upgraded eight times. Each time you upgrade an item, it has a chance to fail--the rate of failure increases as you go over the maximum number of upgrades. Failures can result in the item returning to its original state, which requires the player to purchase more materials than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum number.

If an item fails to upgrade item the amount of experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. The item will also lose any bonuses it earned like chances to be crit, attack damage, or other effects (such as an increase in healing over time, or the speed of reloading). However, the player may continue to use the weapon or armor following the failure.

If an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from lowest to highest. This means that if a weapon receives a crit chance boost, the increase will be applied before any damage to attack increases. A new attribute known as Slots has been added to the item definition and the value is recomputed every time an upgrade is applied.

The amount of resources required to upgrade an item are determined by its rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equivalent to its value. For example, a common item might have five upgrades at a cost. 25,600 Technology Points and a 4x Quality Improvement Chance--whereas hero grade items will come with the lowest cost for each upgrade.

Premium items may have different upgrade requirements from regular gear. For instance they might require fewer sowels, but more minerals and orons. The player will need to take every piece of equipment they want to upgrade to the NPC [ArmorBoboko. Boboko located in Central Flarine. Each upgrade to equipment requires different amounts of the ingredients needed to upgrade, in addition to the expenses listed above.
